The brain of Doug Shields is split his brain between space and poetry. He attended the Arkansas School for Mathematics and Sciences, earned a Bachelor of Science in physics from the University of Houston, founded Houston Poetry Slam at the art commune known as southmorehouse, served as Slammaster of the Ozarks, produced and hosted the weekly FM poetry show High On Words Radio, earned a Master of Science in physics while researching black holes and spiral galaxies, and helped to organize the 2012 Individual World Poetry Slam. He is as queer as a three-dollar unicorn. He spends his dreamtime spreading poetry to the far reaches of space and time as the captain of the StarZeppelin Xenophile. Doug lives in Northwest Arkansas and loves to travel.
